Search Begins for Local Youth Golf and Cooking Enthusiasts as Part of Upcoming KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship at Harbor Shores.

Entries are now being accepted for the inaugural KitchenAid “Kid-Inside-the-Ropes” contest in anticipation of the upcoming KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship. KitchenAid is searching for two children in Berrien County that embody a love of golf, cooking, and community. Winners will be given exclusive access to events surrounding the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship taking place May 25-29, 2022 at Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor, Mich.

Southwest Michigan youth ages 5 to 14 are encouraged to submit a video no longer than two minutes demonstrating why they should be the 2022 KitchenAid “Kid-Inside-the-Ropes”. Entries may be submitted now through April 8, 2022, and all videos must be submitted before the deadline to be considered. Interested participants are encouraged to view the full entry guidelines and can submit their videos through the following form: https://forms.gle/KBQyuxaKyQ4dg1hu6.

Video submissions will be evaluated based on creativity, community spirit, and overall passion for cooking and/or golf. Kids can highlight their favorite recipes or showcase a concoction of their own, show off their golf swing or sink a creative backyard putt, or simply spotlight their love for their community in a creative way.

“KitchenAid and Whirlpool Corp. have been bringing Championship golf to communities across the country since 2011, and we take great pride in the positive impact the events have on each city,” said Deb O’Connor, Director of Global Corporate Reputation and Community Relations at Whirlpool Corporation. “The KitchenAid ‘Kid-Inside-the-Ropes’ initiative provides yet another way for us to connect with this great community while inspiring our next generation of cooking and golf enthusiasts.”

The “Kid-Inside-the-Ropes” experience will include a seat at the table for a KitchenAid dinner, a chance to conduct an interview at the 2022 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, a behind-the-scenes first look at the KitchenAid Fairway Club and Championship set up at Harbor Shores, and more. Winners and their chaperones will also receive upgraded hospitality tickets to the 2022 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, the most historic major championship in senior golf.

“While the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship is synonymous with Major Championship golf, it has also earned a reputation for community impact and family fun, thanks in large part to KitchenAid and Whirlpool Corp.,” said Brandon Haney, 2022 Championship Director. “We look forward to bringing young fans across Michigan into the fold and showcasing all of the excitement that exists around this exceptional event.”

In addition to O’Connor and Haney, the judging panel will include KitchenAid Associate Brand Manager, Taylor Sloan; KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship General Chair, Jeff Fettig; and Jerry Price, Specialist Talent Program Lead, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Spectrum Health and Co-Chair for the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship Showcase.

For kids needing assistance recording their video submissions, the Benton Harbor Public Library has technology available for any child accompanied by an adult to borrow throughout the duration of the contest.
